Cathedrals of Sound

A series of recitals made initially for the Adelaide Festival in 1996, based on the theme “Music and Architecture”. Prominent in this series are the important compositions written for the keyboard from 1600 until today, compositions which can be related to the architecture of different periods. This is shown in the various ways in which each composer makes use of harmonic architecture and tonality, for instance in program 2 series A, the key of Bb is central to both works and yet the total effect is awesome. In his own programme notes these connections are made very clear.

These major compositions are put into context within the whole series and the effect is strong and cumulative, building up to the final recital.

The original 1996 program is now presented in a series of either 3 or 4 recitals, but if preferred they can also be chosen as individual recitals.
